Tortue (Tortoise), model FD36
Produced during the 1930s, these figural tortoise table lighters are comprised of an Éclair Model 702 mounted into a plastic casting of the creature's head, feet and tail adorned with a solid exotic wood shell. Quercia produced different versions of the Tortue with articulating and fixed heads. The articulating version has a hexagonal head shape, fixed version have a diamond head shape. The mechanisms were offered with assorted plated finishes, different colors were used for the plastic extremities, ebony and palm wood species were offered for the shell. (EB)
